Overview
Cyclefy supports the circular economy among university students through five services: donation, barter, borrowing, recycling and repair. It was built by team Byte4Aura at the Advanced Software Engineering Laboratory, Telkom University, as part of the ASE Lab Internship Program.
The system aims to make sharing and exchange easy, reduce waste through recycling and repair, build a community that cares about the environment, and offer a safe place for non-monetary transactions.
Research
I ran a Google Form survey with 10 respondents and wrote three personas from it: M. Sholeh, who wants to donate items; Bagus Hardianto, who needs repair services; and Imanuel Christian S., who wants to barter and borrow.
Their pain points shaped the services. Donors did not know where or how to give items away. People with broken items did not know how to fix them or where to take them. Students had no shared place to swap or lend things.
Process
The team followed Design Thinking. I mapped the Sign Up and Sign In flow first: a guest sees the home page, taps Get Started, then signs up manually with email verification or with a social account. From there I moved to wireframes, high-fidelity screens and an interactive prototype.
Usability test
I tested the prototype with 10 active Telkom University students aged 19 to 21 (8 men, 2 women) using the System Usability Scale. Every respondent had tried the prototype beforehand.
My contribution
I did all of the UI/UX work: the survey, personas, user flow, wireframes, UI design, prototype and usability test. I handed the designs to the front-end developers. Backend, system analysis, front-end and QA were done by other team members.
